Assistant Professor of Physical Education Pedagogy
Springfield College invites applications for an Assistant Professor of Physical Education Pedagogy. This is a nine-month, tenure-track appointment within the School of Health, Physical Education and Recreation beginning August 2017. Expertise in the field, demonstrated excellence in teaching, and a strong commitment to scholarly and service activities are expected. Preference will be given to candidates who can bring diverse perspectives to this growing department and who are motivated to help students succeed.
Interested candidates for this position will have an earned doctorate from a regionally accredited institution in Physical Education or related discipline. Applicants who are ABD for the terminal degree may be considered depending on expected completion date. The successful candidate will teach physical education pedagogy courses in the Physical Education Teacher Education courses at both undergraduate and graduate levels. Specific course assignments will fall within the following content areas: instructional strategies, motor development, secondary school methods, advanced pedagogy.
Additional responsibilities include supervision of student teachers, academic advisement and graduate research advisement at both the master’s and doctoral level. School-based teaching experience at the elementary, middle and/or secondary level is required.
