Position Summary

The Manager, Student Academic Success (SAS) is responsible for managing the SAS team, ensuring that it delivers developmental academic and study skills support and disability support to students in all English and academic programs at RMIT Vietnam. Activities include SAS workshops, individual consultations, the SLAMs mentoring program and other Peer Support programs services. The SAS Manager will provide leadership to the Learning Skills Advisors in identifying the academic and study skills needs of students entering undergraduate and postgraduate programs, the development and implementation of successful embedded and workshop support activities, and engagement with the wider learning skills community through collaborative research and publication of learning skills related articles.

As a member of the Office of the Vice President Education, the SAS Manager will collaborate closely with the Library, Learning Technologies & Analytics, RMIT Connect and Case Management and will bring a strong service oriented perspective to the unit and will work collaboratively with professional and academic staff from all departments to ensure that the range of service and support activities offered to students is appropriate and consistent with academic program offerings.

Key Selection Criteria

A Master’s degree in relevant field (e.g. TESOL, curriculum design, developmental psychology)
An internationally recognised teaching qualification
Proven ability to effectively manage and motivate a team of professionals to successfully deliver a program of work and maintain a positive, collaborative organisational culture.
Proven significant expertise and experience in the successful development and evaluation of central academic language or learning support programs and activities and the development of resources including e-learning resources.
Experience with using educational technology tools in a tertiary environment.
Ability to initiate and manage various projects and initiatives related to development of embedded academic and study skills programs and to deliver on outcomes.
Demonstrated high level ability to analyse and interpret a complex range of information to address emerging issues in academic transition and learning support.
Proven ability to provide expert advice with influence to academic, teaching and professional staff.
Demonstrated competency with a range of contemporary IT applications in education, especially current approaches to e-learning
Well-developed interpersonal skills including negotiation, liaison, cross cultural communication and report writing skills.
Capacity to embrace new approaches to learning and to adapt quickly in a rapidly changing environment.

Please note

English is the language of teaching and communication at RMIT Vietnam. For this role, the minimum requirement is IELTS 7.5 (or equivalent).
