New York University’s Steinhardt School of Culture, Education, and Human Development invites applications for a nonĀ­-tenure track Clinical Assistant Professor in Early Childhood Literacy and Innovation. The appointed faculty member will be part of the Department of Teaching and Learning. We are committed to substantially increasing the proportion of our faculty from historically underrepresented groups as we strive to create the most intellectually diverse, inclusive, and equitable institution that we can, and especially encourage candidates from historically underrepresented groups to apply.

We seek a faculty member with a focus on early childhood literacy in urban settings, and expertise in the application of cutting-edge technology integration.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach early childhood and childhood literacy courses at all levels; advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate students; collaborate with faculty on curriculum and program development and technology/literacy integration initiatives; support theoretically informed cutting edge literacy integration in reading and literacy that is both developmentally appropriate, research-based, and culturally responsive to the needs of those children that are beginning readers and/or struggling with reading and writing; Conduct interdisciplinary and transdisciplinary outreach, education and applied research in literacy education at the Departmental, School, community and State level, participate in faculty meetings, serve on committees, and provide other service to the University.

QUALIFICATIONS
Doctoral degree in a relevant field. Previous teaching experience at the college/university level, at least 3 years previous experience teaching at the preschool/elementary level and a body of professional work and experience within the fields of literacy and curriculum development.
