Assistant Professor, Department of Counseling

Overview:

St. Edward's University invites applications for appointment as a full time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Counseling to begin in June of 2018. The position of the faculty will be filled at the Assistant Professor level with salary depending on qualifications and experience. The successful candidate will teach a variety of courses in the Master of Arts in Counseling degree program. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

St. Edward's University is regarded as a teaching institution and regards teaching as central to the mission. The teaching load is a 4-4 (total of 8 courses per academic year) with opportunity for summer teaching. Courses are delivered in an online or hybrid modality.
Advise graduate students.
Develop new courses and curriculum as requested.
Meet School and University service requirements through participation on committees.
Maintain an active program of quality research in the teaching field.
Maintain commitment to social responsibility in the classroom in line with the University's mission.
Fulfill other required faculty responsibilities as outlined in the St. Edward's University Faculty Manual.

Qualifications:

Earned doctorate (Ph.D.) in Counseling, Counselor Education or Marriage and Family required.
University teaching experience in counseling with excellent references required.
Formal training and experience in counselor supervision required.
Candidate must be licensed as a marriage and family therapist (LMFT) or licensed professional counselor (LPC).
Candidate will possess the ability to teach marriage and family and/or clinical mental health coursework as well as general core courses within the Master of Arts in Counseling (MAC) program, including a broad range of theoretical approaches.
Knowledge of and experience with 2016 CACREP standards is required.
Candidates with a strong commitment to enhancing diversity in academia, fostering the university's 
global initiative, and supporting strategic priorities must be reflected in application materials.
Successful completion of an employment and/or criminal history background check is required.

Preferences:
Ability to lead the LMFT track of the MAC program or ability to contribute to the clinical mental health program.
Hold licensure as Texas LMFT or be eligible for LMFT in Texas.
Interest and skills in the area of teaching courses using asynchronous means (e.g., blended/hybrid courses and on-line courses).
Earned doctorate in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP Accredited program or have been employed as a full-time faculty member in a counselor-educator program for a minimum of one full academic year before July 2013.
