The Department of Educational Specialties (ESP) is seeking to fill an Assistant/Associate Professor in Early Childhood Special Education at our Flagstaff Mountain campus beginning in August 2018. The position is a 9-month tenure-track faculty line. This position also has the opportunity for summer course teaching. The ESP Department invites applicants who will contribute to our Dual Certification B.S.Ed. in Early Childhood and the M.Ed. in Special Education – Early Childhood Special Education with Certification. The successful candidate should also have a demonstrated potential for an active independent and collaborative research agenda and external research funding. The M.Ed. in Early Childhood Special Education with Certification is a 37-46-unit program that is aligned with certification requirements in the state and is CAEP accredited. The program is offered to students in the state and many of the courses are delivered through online formats. The program attracts strong and diverse applicants from the state and is currently in a growth phase. Many of the graduate courses in early childhood special education are also included in a specialization in the M.Ed. in Special Education (Non-Certification).
Minimum Qualifications: Assistant 1) Earned doctorate or ABD in Special Education with doctorate no later than May 2018, OR Master’s in Special Education and earned doctorate in related field or ABD with doctorate no later than May 2018 2) Three years working with children with disabilities ages birth to eight years Associate 3) Meets minimum qualifications of Assistant AND 4) Current Associate Rank or equivalent of 6 years as Assistant
Annual Salary: Commensurate with experience.
