Te Oranga School of Human Development and Movement Studies

Te Kura Toi Tangata Faculty of Education

Te Oranga School of Human Development is one of three schools in the Faculty of Education. The focus of our School is enhancing well-being through educational and relational practices and the optimising of human experience and capabilities across the lifespan from early childhood to later life. Our work includes inclusive and relational practices, policies and pedagogies, early childhood, human development, counselling and disability studies.

The School is seeking to appoint a Lecturer or Senior Lecturer who can contribute to undergraduate and postgraduate teaching and supervision in areas related to early childhood education in Aotearoa New Zealand and to inclusive practices in ECE and school settings. The ability to also contribute to human development papers and an understanding of Maori perspectives on human development will be an advantage. The position requires the successful applicant to contribute to the teaching and administration requirements of the School and Faculty, maintain and develop original scholarship and research, and undertake community service activities relevant to the discipline.

The appointee will hold or have the qualifications to hold NZ Teacher Registration and a current practising certificate, have a sound understanding of ECE curriculum and pedagogy in New Zealand and the capacity to contribute to programme leadership and practicum coordination. Knowledge of the ECE sector, the ability to connect with ECE employers and the potential to contribute to primary programmes will be an asset.

At Lecturer level a relevant PhD or significant progress towards one is expected. At Senior Lecturer level you will have a relevant PhD with demonstrated research expertise in areas relevant to early childhood education.

Current salary range for Lecturer is NZ$72,654 to $87,500 and Senior Lecturer is NZ$90,000 to $118,500, dependent on the qualifications and experience of the successful applicant.
