JOB DESCRIPTION SUMMARY
The Learning Sciences and Technology Program at Worcester Polytechnic Institute seeks applications for a one-year Assistant Research Professor position to begin August 2019 (with the possibility of starting earlier in May 2019). The position involves teaching, mentoring and supporting research projects in Learning Sciences & Technologies (LS&T). Candidates are expected to have a Ph.D. in educational psychology, learning sciences, computer science, or a related field.

JOB DESCRIPTION
The selected candidate will conduct and publish research with Professor Ivon Arroyo on NSF-funded research projects involving math learning technologies for K-12 level, that integrate cognitive perspectives as well as metacognitive and affective perspectives, blended with rich data analysis and modeling, and teacher training including learner analytics and educational data mining.

Research expertise is required in at some of these research areas: mathematics education, computational thinking, intelligent tutoring systems for math, educational data mining, data analytics, advanced learning technologies, online learning technologies, affect/metacognition in learning, teacher professional development involving the implementation of learning technologies in the classroom.

The position also involves teaching and mentoring graduate students in the Learning Sciences & Technologies MS/Ph.D. program. Teaching responsibilities include 2 graduate courses a year. Sample courses could potentially include Metacognition, Motivation, and Affect and a second class corresponding to a seminar of your expertise. Teaching possibilities are to be discussed during the interview.

Other responsibilities regard advising and mentoring graduate students who are enrolled in the LS&T graduate program (MS/Ph.D.).
