The Department of Behavior Analysis of Simmons University is seeking applicants for a 12-month faculty appointment as Associate Professor of Practice/Intensive Practicum Director within our online Master's degree program (BehaviorAnalysis@Simmons, BA@S). The Master's program prepares students for leadership roles in the implementation, evaluation and administration of applied behavioral analytic principles and methods. Our innovative curriculum, emphasizes contemporary research and the fusion of applied behavior analysis with other scientific fields. This allows graduates to sit for the Behavior Analysis Certification Board (BACB) exam with no further coursework.

The Simmons Behavior Analysis master's program requires students to complete an Intensive Practicum experience as part of their degree program. The Intensive Practicum Director is responsible for coordination and oversight of all administrative, supervisory and clinical tasks related to the BA@S Intensive Practicum. Duties include the oversight of student/supervisor orientation, student registration, placement and student assessment. As part of this role, the Intensive Practicum Director will coordinate supervisory services provided by both 1:1 and group mentors to ensure procedural integrity and compliance with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board's intensive practicum experience standards. The Intensive Practicum Director will also provide individual and/or group mentoring of students in online practicum on an as needed basis. A reduced course teaching load may be assigned. The appointment is not on the tenure track.

This position is fully dedicated to supporting BA@S Intensive Practicum and coordinating compliance with the upcoming BACB supervised fieldwork changes effective in 2022. General faculty responsibilities, in addition to overseeing the Intensive Practicum experience for online students as described above, include student advising, contributing to curriculum development, and providing service to the Behavior Analysis Department and to the College. We are especially interested in expertise specific to supporting students in practicum placements and management of board-certified behavior analysts. Remote applicants will be considered; travel to the Simmons campus in Boston periodically will be required. The desired start date for this position is July 1, 2019.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in behavior analysis or a closely related field required (e.g. psychology, education); doctoral degree in behavior analysis preferred
  • Current Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in good standing;
  • Meets Behavior Analysis Certification Board standards for providing supervision;
  • Licensed as a Behavior Analyst in Massachusetts or assigned geographic region (preferred) or licensure eligible (required) in assigned geographic region;
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience providing supervision to students seeking Board Certification;
  • A minimum of 3 years' experience supervising other BCBAs;
  • A record of professional presentations and research publications preferred;
  • Candidates should be well-organized, detail-oriented, and able to meet term deadlines.
