Department Description
The Department of Education serves both graduate and undergraduate students in a variety of delivery models. Graduate programs include the following: two MEd degrees – MED Curriculum, Instruction, and Innovation; MEd Educational Leadership, Building Administrator; four EdS degrees in Educational Leadership – EDS Building Administrator; EDS Director of Special Education; EDS Superintendent; EDS Organizational Leadership, and two doctoral degrees – PhD in Educational Leadership; EdD in Educational Leadership. Undergraduate degrees include secondary and elementary degrees. All NNU education programs maintain voluntary national accreditation through the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education (NCATE).The preparation programs for teachers and administrators are also approved by the State of Idaho.

Graduate and undergraduate education programs have strong working relationships with school districts in the region, statewide educational organizations, and the Idaho State Department of Education, which is located in Boise. We are a group of faculty committed to maintaining and expanding the diversity of our student body and faculty. We believe in the importance of community within a Christian context and strive to develop a supportive environment for the personal, professional, and educational growth of students and faculty. We are leading innovation in the state in our teacher preparation programs through the integration of technology and implementation of directed clinical experiences for our candidates. We continually endeavor to preserve and enhance our strong reputation for high quality programs in the education field.

Description of Position
Northwest Nazarene University, Department of Graduate Education is seeking to fill a full-time (10-month) tenure track position (rank dependent upon experience) as Faculty in the Curriculum, Instruction, and Innovation program at the University. Responsibilities include:

  • Teaching online, graduate-level courses (including research)
  • Developing new courses as required
  • Advising graduate students
  • Engaging in research and scholarly endeavors, including grant writing
  • Collaborating with colleagues in local schools, agencies, and the university as appropriate
  • Chairing and/or serving on doctoral committees
  • Providing meaningful service to the community and to the profession
  • Collaborating with Graduate Admissions in effective marketing strategy and personal interaction with prospective students

Required Qualifications

  • Experience in the K-12 classroom
  • Successful teaching at the graduate level
  • Experience in the online learning environment
  • Ability to work in a team
  • All candidates must have a Christian perspective (preferably in the Wesleyan tradition), and must be comfortable with and in agreement with the mission and lifestyle values of NNU and willing to help advance the spiritual goals of the University.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Earned doctorate in the area of Curriculum & Instruction or a closely related discipline
  • Interest in conducting scholarly research
  • Experience in educational leadership
  • Experience developing and teaching courses in both face-to-face and online environments

Compensation
The salary will be determined by the educational background and experience of each applicant.
