The Graduate School of Education at the University at Buffalo is seeking an Assistant Director of the UB Teacher Residency Program (UBTR). The UB Teacher Residency Program is an accelerated, innovative, one-year initial teacher certification program for individuals who are committed to teaching in Buffalo’s public schools.
The Assistant Director will work collaboratively with the Director, university faculty, partner districts, mentor teachers, school leaders, and other stakeholders in preparing and supporting a diverse, learner-ready teaching force. The Assistant Director will participate in various aspects of the program including: recruitment and selection of residents, recruitment and selection of mentor teachers, facilitation of professional learning communities (both virtual and face-to-face) for residents and mentor teachers, planning and coordination of the Teacher Residency Summer Institute (a one-week intensive professional development experience for all participating residents and mentor teachers), and coordination of UB Sub (a professional development workshop for prospective substitute teachers).
Completion of a Master’s degree and university-based teacher education program and experience working as a teacher in diverse and/or urban school settings are preferred.
Strong interpersonal skills, along with the ability to interact with a diverse group of faculty, administrators, and external stakeholders is essential.
