  • Full-time at 37.5 hours per week (1.0 FTE)
  • Continuing (i.e. permanent) position

What You Will Do

Applications are invited for a senior academic position with a focus on Māori Education and well-being at the level of Ahorangi Tuarua/Ahorangi – Associate Professor/ Professor. This position will lead in academic research across the College of Education, Health and Human Development, contribute to postgraduate courses/programmes offered in the School of Teacher Education and undertake post-graduate supervision of Doctoral students.

Who You Are

Applicants will have a Doctorate in a related area, aligned with the needs of the College with respect to culturally responsive and sustainable teaching and learning and Māori Education and well-being. The successful applicant will be a leader in scholarly and research achievements related to Māori Education and well-being and be fluent in te reo Māori.

Considerable confidence in working with local iwi and runānga is required, together with an active commitment to upholding values, tikanga, kawa and traditions as guided by Ngāi Tūāhuriri, the mana whenua. The successful applicant will have an understanding of effective teaching methods and demonstrated experience in teaching at tertiary level.

You will be located in Rehua in the heart of the campus. Rehua will be the central hub for education, entrepreneurship and executive development, where students from all disciplines will be supported in their studies and their professional and personal growth. Facilities include meeting and project rooms, breakout areas, a cultural function space, health clinics, a cafe, social spaces throughout the building’s seven floors, a light-filled atrium connecting the north and south blocks, and a ‘maker space’ to create, invent and learn in.
