Assistant Teaching Professor of Clinical Education

JOB DESCRIPTION AND POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

The Communication Sciences & Disorders (CSD) program in the School of Humanities at Penn State University – Harrisburg invites applications for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor of Clinical Education. The Assistant Teaching Professor will serve as Director of Clinical Education for the program. Salary will be commensurate with education and teaching experience.

This is a TERM position.

Responsibilities:

The CSD program at Penn State University-Harrisburg has applied for candidacy for a new speech-language pathology graduate program with the Council on Academic Accreditation in Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology (CAA). The Assistant Teaching Professor and Director of Clinical Education will be responsible for all aspects of the clinical component of the new Speech-Language Pathology program including the development, coordination, maintenance, continuous review and scheduling of the clinical assignments; assuring clinical assessment and competency; developing, assuring and maintaining relationships with the clinical affiliates; and the general effectiveness of the clinical program.

Specific responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Develop, coordinate, and continuously evaluate the clinical education program.

  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in areas of professional expertise including clinical practicum courses.

  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with clinical partners regionally and nationally to ensure students have appropriate and varied practicum and externship sites.

  • Provide direct supervision of students in clinical practicum.

  • Evaluate and mentor clinical instructors/supervisors to ensure consistent and appropriate instruction and evaluation of students.

  • Assist the Program Chair in academic, administrative, and recruitment activities.

  • Conduct clinical program assessment and ensure program adherence to accreditation standards.

  • Other academic and clinical duties as assigned by the Program Chair.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • A certified Speech-Language Pathologist with CCC-SLP.

  • A current PA state SLP license or eligibility to obtain a PA state SLP license.

  • A Master’s degree in speech-language pathology.

  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

The Ideal Candidate will also possess:

  • 5+ years full-time experience in speech-language pathology.

  • Clinical experience in both adult and pediatric settings.

  • Teaching experience at the university level.

  • Leadership experience in a healthcare setting.

  • Experience as a clinical SLP supervisor.

  • Ed.D. or Ph.D. in speech-language pathology.
