We are hiring FOUR positions, one each to be located in the following cities:
Tucson, AZ; San Francisco, CA; Syracuse, NY; Albany, NY. For each of these four positions, we seek
candidates with background and expertise in at least one of the following areas: urban education, literacy,
special education, the teaching of emergent bilingual students, and/or social studies education. Along with
their faculty responsibilities, successful applicants will serve as Residency Directors in school districts
located in their resident cities and will have significant engagement with schools and community partners
outside of NYU.

Responsibilities: One person in each location will teach courses and modules in the EMAT Program;
support and provide ongoing feedback on teaching efficacy and professionalism to cohorts of NYU
Resident Interns during their year-long residencies; provide professional development for Teaching
Mentors within school settings; serve as NYU-Steinhardt liaison with local school district; create
effective communications processes with school leadership and onsite program liaisons; develop
professional learning communities for Resident Interns, Teaching Mentors, and EMAT graduates in
Induction year; assist in facilitation of program orientations and other recruitment events; actively
participate in the iterative design process for the EMAT program.

Qualifications: An advanced degree (Masters or doctorate) in teacher education or another related field, a
strong track record of supporting the development of effective teachers, and demonstrated effectiveness as
a teacher. Preference will be given to candidates with 5+ years of teaching and/or working in a high need
urban setting who can demonstrate strong professional experience in coaching and building leadership
capacity in new and experienced teachers, and who are adept at developing smooth and effective
communications and working relationships with Partner Schools, Districts, and Networks. We
particularly seek candidates who have knowledge and understanding of teacher residencies, demonstrated
experience and passion for work in urban schools, knowledge and skills to support inclusive education
principles, and experience leading effective professional development.
