The Department of Teacher Education and Administration invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin Spring 2018 or Fall 2018. Summer teaching is contingent on student demand and funding. The successful candidate will join a dedicated Early Childhood Education faculty with programs leading to EC-3 and EC-6 teacher certification, an M.S. in Early Childhood Education, and a Ph.D. in Curriculum and Instruction with a concentration in Early Childhood Studies.

The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the continued development and success of the department through research, teaching, service, and mentoring of students. As a tenure-track member of the faculty, candidates will be expected to develop a record of scholarly research necessary to obtain tenure. In addition, candidates will be expected to engage in teaching and to contribute service to the department, College of Education, and the University of North Texas. Instructional roles include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Early Childhood Education. The successful candidate will also be expected to develop or continue an ongoing research agenda in an area of specialization, including regular publications in quality outlets, professional presentations, and submission of external grant proposals. Service on dissertation committees, including the chairing of dissertations, is expected.

The University of North Texas System is firmly committed to equal opportunity and does not permit – and takes actions to prevent – discrimination, harassment (including sexual violence), and retaliation on the basis of race, color, religion, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, disability, family status, genetic information, citizenship or veteran status in its application and admission processes, educational programs and activities, facilities, and employment practices. The University of North Texas System immediately investigates and takes remedial action when appropriate.

The University of North Texas System also takes actions to prevent retaliation against individuals who oppose a discriminatory practice, file a charge, or testify, assist or participate in an investigative proceeding or hearing. Minimum qualifications include an earned doctorate in Early Childhood Education (ECE) or related field, with at least 18 credit hours of ECE graduate coursework. Also required is teaching experience in grades EC-3. ABD candidates will be considered as long as the dissertation is successfully defended prior to the start date.
