The Department of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) Education in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track, assistant professor position in Science Education. The appointment is a nine-month appointment, effective August 16, 2018.

This regular title series faculty member will provide expertise in support of departmental programs across elementary, middle, and secondary levels. In this position, the faculty member will conduct research, publish findings, pursue external funding, participate in service, and collaborate with P-12 schools to ensure that both school and university expertise is leveraged. Instructional duties will be up to a two course instructional load each semester. Specific responsibilities include the following: conduct a systematic program of research and seek and secure external support; teach, advise, and supervise undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral students; teach a two-two course load; develop courses and program content; identify and evaluate student dispositions and student learning outcomes; provide appropriate services within as well as outside the University.

Required qualifications include an earned doctoral degree in science education or related field; evidence of a commitment to developing a significant program of research, commensurate with experience; evidence of a commitment to excellence in teaching and advising and interest in using applicable technology to assist student learning, commensurate with experience; and evidence of a commitment to working collegially and with individuals from diverse backgrounds.

Preferred qualifications include experience as a P-12 educator, experience teaching and advising in higher education, and work experience in collaborating with P-12 partners along with a commitment to innovative science education.
