Working collaboratively across the institution, RISD Integrated Planning aims to foster, promote and support a culture of evidence-based integrated planning, assessment and continuous improvement. Integrated Planning will facilitate a wide range of planning and assessment efforts; promote the effective collection, use and dissemination of data for institutional decision-making; and provide education, consultation and support for assessment activities.

In this unique opportunity the Senior Research & Assessment Associate will support the Integrated Planning function and Academic Affairs in promoting a culture of assessment among faculty and staff by developing a comprehensive, systematic assessment program that enhances RISD’s unique learning environment while supporting RISD’s mission and goals.

With an understanding of best practices in learning assessment, the staff member is expected to design, recommend, and implement a framework for assessing student learning for general education, and at the program- and institutional-level. This will be accomplished by actively engaging department heads, program directors, and faculty in the development of learning goals and outcomes for academic programs.

The Senior Research Associate will also engage Student Affairs staff in developing and assessing co-curricular learning outcomes. The professional in this role will assess performance toward these learning outcomes, and coordinate data collection, analysis and interpretation related to the assessment of student learning. The associate will also manage and coordinate the administration and analysis of data from national student surveys.

The ideal candidate will possess a demonstrated track record of building collaborative and collegial relationships across the College community and will have the ability to effectively communicate assessment processes and statistical analysis results to multiple audiences. Candidates should be proficient with software tools used in data collection, analysis and reporting, and should have advanced writing, oral and presentation skills, with data visualization skills a plus. The ideal candidate will also be expected to teach periodically.
