Zayed University’s College of Education (Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses) seeks energetic and innovative faculty members to contribute to the ongoing development of the UAE’s education system through teaching, research and engagement with UAE schools. College of Education faculty members contribute to the preparation of graduates at Baccalaureate and Master’s levels who will become exemplary teachers, school administrators, and future leaders able to serve national and regional development in one of the world’s most dynamic countries. The successful candidates will also assist in the planning and implementation of teaching, research and professional development programs that will contribute to the national school reform movement currently underway across the UAE.
The College, accredited by NCATE/CAEP, is in the process of expanding and deepening its existing Baccalaureate and Master’s Degree offerings, and in developing robust applied research and professional development programs directly relevant to schools in the UAE. The College has an Early Childhood Education Center on its Abu Dhabi and Dubai campuses, providing a research-based model for early childhood education that features bilingual language acquisition (English and Modern Standard Arabic), discovery and numeracy development, and parent education.
The College seeks candidates at the Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level in the fields of Science Education and Early Childhood Education and Curriculum and Instruction for our Early Childhood and Elementary Education program. The positions also require that the successful applicants engage in scholarly research, contribute to course development, and offer service to the college and the university.
An earned Doctoral Degree in Science Education or Science and Math Education, or Early Childhood Education or Curriculum and Instruction or in closely related fields, is required. Candidates should have a record of publications and a significant research agenda in evidence.
Candidates must be experienced in teaching at undergraduate and graduate levels, and some pedagogical expertise with young learners is required.
Experience in working with second language learners is a plus, and professional development experience in K-12 is also valued.
Although not a specific requirement, particular consideration will be given to faculty who have experience in international or bilingual environments, or who can work effectively in both English and Arabic.
