Overview
The Eliot-Pearson Children's School is the laboratory-demonstration school affiliated with the Eliot-Pearson Department of Child Study and Human Development at Tufts University. The school serves as a model and demonstration facility, providing a training and observation site for new and experienced teachers and a research facility for faculty and supervised students in the Department of Child Study and Human Development. The Children's School enrolls approximately 68 children. It has preschool, Pre-K and Kindergarten, to first grade classes that vary in length and frequency.
What You'll Do
The Head Teacher’s responsibilities include providing a dynamic, developmental, and inclusive program for preschool age children (3-4 years), curriculum planning, instruction, documentation and assessment of children. This position will also work with families, therapists, team-teaching and supervising University undergraduate and graduate students.
The Head Teacher may also work as the summer program head teacher, or counselor. The summer program counselor is responsible to lead and manage the classroom including curriculum design, recreational projects preparation and implementation, oversight of the classroom environment, staff supervision, and ensuring a safe and nurturing environment for children and families.
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
Knowledge and skills as typically acquired by a Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field
3 years’ experience with teaching children, including those with special needs
Skill in designing classroom environments and curriculum within an inclusive setting; experience supervising University students
Pay Range Minimum $63,600.00, Midpoint $79,500.00, Maximum $95,400.00 Salary is based on related experience, expertise, and internal equity; generally, new hires can expect pay between the minimum and midpoint of the range.
