The Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Counselor Education (EDSCE) in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a tenure eligible, special title series assistant professor position in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education. This special title series faculty member will provide expertise in assessment, instruction, and teaming for families and young children receiving early intervention, early childhood special education, early childhood education, and related services. The special title series assistant professor will also contribute to the climate of diversity and inclusion within the EDSCE department through their scholarship and collegiality.
The appointment is a nine-month appointment, effective January 1, 2024. Responsibilities include the following: Teach three courses each semester (fall and spring); supervise student teachers; supervise practicum students in community-based placements; serve on masters and doctoral committees; in collaboration with colleagues seek extramural funding to support personnel preparation and development activities; coordinate the in-development Option 9 and Option 6 routes to IECE certification in the state of Kentucky; support state and community early childhood partnerships with agencies in Kentucky and nationwide; provide service to the department, college, university, and profession.
Qualifications include an earned doctorate in early childhood education, early childhood special education, special education, or a related field prior to start date; experience as an educator serving young children with or at-risk for disabilities; a commitment to teacher preparation; effective collaboration with community partners in education; evidence of or intent to incorporate diversity, equity, and inclusion principles across teaching and supervision.
Preferred experiences include college/university teaching, supervision experience, grant writing, training commitment to social justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belongingness principles, and experience with distance learning technologies.
