The Tufts University Education Department seeks a Part-Time Instructor to teach ED 113: Language Arts Curricula in the Middle and Secondary School in Fall 2025
Course: ED 113: Language Arts Curricula in the Middle and Secondary School Timing: Fall, 2025, 4:30-7:30pm Location: Medford, MA, in-person
OVERVIEW OF COURSE AND PROGRAM
The Tufts University Department of Education seeks qualified candidates to teach one in-person graduate level course, ED 113, on 5-12 English curriculum, methods, and practices. This course is required for MAT students pursuing Initial licensure in grades 5-12 English; these teacher candidates will simultaneously student teach in an area school in Fall 2025. Undergraduates interested in teaching, tutoring, or some other teaching-related work may also register. ED 113 is focused both on building the necessary understanding of English curriculum and teaching practices as well as developing the critical frames necessary for examining those very curricula and practices.
The Master of Arts in Teaching (MAT) in Middle and High School Education program prepares its teacher candidates to develop the skills and practices necessary to thrive in the schools of today and to re-imagine the possibilities of schooling for tomorrow. Through the program, teacher candidates develop a thorough understanding of MA curriculum frameworks, theories of human development and learning, and teaching practices that emphasize students’ assets support classrooms that nurture all students. Additionally, teacher candidates cultivate the professional and collegial behaviors and stances that prepare them to be citizen-leaders, ready to wrestle deeply with the profound civic questions at the heart of schooling and education and ready to participate in the broader life of the profession.
Qualifications
The successful candidate should have extensive experience teaching English at the high school and/or middle school levels. Masters degree required. A doctorate in a related field preferred. University teaching experience preferred.
