The Graduate School of Education at the University at Buffalo, SUNY invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure-track) position in Early Childhood Education, in the Department of Learning and Instruction. The Department and the School are committed to an intellectually diverse and inclusive working and learning environment. We are seeking candidates whose research, teaching, and service have prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity, inclusivity and excellence.

The Early Childhood Education (ECE) Program at UB has a long history of research excellence, and strong commitment to teaching and community engagement. Its Fisher-Price endowed Early Childhood Research Center (http://ecrc.buffalo.edu/) provides rich research potential and community engagement opportunities. Throughout our degree programs: 1) Ed.M Early Childhood/Childhood Education, 2) Ed.D Social Contexts of Learning, and 3) Ph.D. Curriculum, Instruction and the Science of Learning, we foster the next generation of teachers, leaders, and researchers who are committed to addressing access, equity, diversity and inclusion in early childhood.

Successful candidates must have an active research program in early childhood development and education, and potential for/demonstrated track record of publishing and securing external research funding. We are interested in scholars who center their research on understanding and ameliorating inequity in ECE and focus on the creation, measurement, and dissemination of research-based strategies to promote early learning and development. Research should emphasize one or more contexts including childcare, preschool, primary grades, family, and community. Sample areas of interest may include equity in access to early learning, the design and delivery of learning experiences, and the intersection of early learning and socialemotional wellbeing.

We welcome candidates with strong backgrounds in quantitative methodologies who employ a range of methods including, but not limited to, observational, experimental, design-based research, and mixed-methods.

Responsibilities Include:
• Maintaining an active research agenda commensurate with Research 1tenure track faculty appointments
• Seeking external grant funding
• Teaching two courses per semester at the graduate level in both the Masters and PhD programs
• Teaching and advising Ed.M and Ph.D. students
• Contributing to the intellectual community of the department

Appointments are for a ten-month academic year beginning in the Fall 2024. For full consideration, please submit your materials by October 1, 2023. The position will remain open until filled.
