About the opportunity
The Educational Innovation (EI) team works with expertise in faculties and in the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education) Portfolio (which the team is part of) to support the articulation and implementation of the University’s educational vision. The EI team also works with faculties to develop, deliver and lead the professional learning and support for educational excellence and innovation.
This role is your opportunity to:
- apply your pedagogical knowledge to learning space planning and governance e.g working on project boards and advising on teaching spaces using pedagocially sound ideas
- contribute to outstanding educational design, delivery, evaluation and outcomes
- apply scholarship and knowledge of contemporary pedagogical practice to innovate education
- contribute to the education and administrative activities of the team
- contribute to the strategic direction of the University
- engage beyond the University (e.g. conferences, seminars and outreach).
Education-focused roles are a specialised category of academic engagement reserved for talented educators with a passion for, and demonstrated excellence in, pedagogical practice and design In this role you will be expected to make a significant contribution to teaching and learning practice, design and evaluation within the Portfolio and will be on a trajectory towards leadership in educational design and delivery. The majority of your contribution will be to education (up to 70% – or 80% by mutual agreement), the remainder of your workload allocation will be available for research.

- a PhD in an academic field relevant to the discipline
- an acknowledged profile as influential in expanding knowledge in pedagogy or curriculum innovation
- demonstrated excellence in research or scholarly activities relevant to educational and learning space design and practice
- deep and broad experience in teaching and learning, as evidenced by leading team teaching within an established program and experience in teaching in a variety of settings
- demonstrated applied understanding of contemporary pedagogical practices and learning space design
- demonstrated success in supporting the academic endeavour from curriculum design to engaging in research/scholarship and providing a student enabling environment
- significant experience in supervising others and coordinating team activities
- demonstrated capacity to lead educational activities to successful outcomes
- demonstrated planning, design and project management of learning spaces.
The Educational Innovation team brings together academic and professional staff to deliver integrated professional development and support for all aspects of learning and teaching. The team has a strong focus on effective education approaches based on evidence-based educational design and an openness to experiment and embed educational innovation in every aspect of teaching and learning. Academics within the team provide strategic leadership and pedagogical expertise of the changing higher education environment to complement and build upon academic expertise and leadership in the faculties. Alongside conducting research and projects consistent with this academic development role, academic members of the team support whole-of-University professional learning activities and lead teams which are integrated within the teaching areas of the University.
