Department Summary
The Department of Teacher Education and Administration (TE&A) in the College of Education at The University of North Texas (UNT) invites applications for the Mike Moses Endowed Chair in Educational Leadership, beginning Fall 2022. This is an appointment at the rank of Associate or Full Professor with tenure in the Educational Leadership (EDLE) program. The successful candidate will join Educational Leadership faculty who interact with undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral-level students and support their efforts to become educational leaders, educational policymakers, and academic researchers in both areas. The EDLE program includes a dynamic and nationally recognized Master of Education program (with the opportunity to obtain the Texas principal as instructional leadership certification); Doctoral of Education program (with the opportunity to obtain a Texas superintendent certification); and Doctor of Philosophy program. Of particular interest to the College of Education are candidates who are committed to improving people’s lives through powerful learning, social-emotional wellness, physical health, civic engagement, and who have a record demonstrating commitment to equity, diversity, inclusion, and social justice.

University of North Texas is a Tier One Research University in the Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex – the fourth-largest metropolitan area in the United States. This dynamic region is seeing explosive growth, demographically and economically, with several of the fastest-growing municipalities in the nation, and is host to countless excellent restaurants, parks and outdoor opportunities, cultural institutions of all types, and globally diverse populations. UNT is located only 26 miles north of DFW International Airport. At over 43,000 students, UNT is one of the nation’s largest universities and is ranked in the top 8% of USA universities based on racial, geographic, gender, and age diversity and among the nation’s top 100 research universities and top 100 universities for social mobility and ethnic diversity (U.S. News & World Report, 2020 College Rankings). UNT is among a very few universities to be a Research 1 University and also a Minority-Serving Institution (MSI) and a Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI).

UNT has a highly diverse campus with a wide range of languages spoken in addition to English. We welcome candidates who have experience with HSI/MSIs and/or who speak Spanish, Vietnamese, American Sign Language, Chinese (Cantonese, Mandarin and other variations), Arabic, Tagalog, Farsi, French, or/and Yoruba.

Position Summary
The successful candidate will be expected to maintain an active research program of national and international significance, to secure external funding to support research, to mentor graduate students and junior faculty, to be a leading faculty member among the program faculty, to cultivate relationships with leaders in partner districts and schools, and to collaborate with faculty and external agencies to achieve the goals of the Department, College, and the University. The successful candidate will be an excellent teacher of masters and doctoral courses (offered at the UNT campus and other off-site locations and online), serve with high standards as chair and a member of doctoral dissertation committees, and contribute service to the Department, College, University, community constituencies, and professional organizations. Summer teaching is contingent on student demand and funding.
