The Institute of Leadership in Higher Education at the University of Sharjah invites applicants for full-time permanent faculty position titled Faculty and Graduate Coordinator.
Minimum Educational Qualification/Experience required is a PhD degree in a field such as Education, Educational Leadership, and Higher Education with cognate experience in faculty development, and teaching and learning.
Preferred Educational Qualification/Experience:
Ph.D. in Education, Educational Leadership, Higher Education or Teacher Education.
Hold Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
Experience teaching as faculty in graduate programs within internationally diverse settings.
Knowledge of current best practices in teaching pedagogies, instructional design, assessment and instructional technology.
Experience with facilitation of professional development workshops for faculty and graduate students.
Knowledge of instructional design models, strategies, and techniques, along with experience in managing, assessing and improving the implementation of experiential learning practices.
Experience working as a mentor for graduate teaching assistants.
Experience with course management systems such as Blackboard, Desire2Learn, Moodle, etc.

Teach graduate students drawing on best and current pedagogical practices; mentor and supervise graduate students’ theses/projects; serve on institute and university committees; coordinate and manage the graduate program in the institute, and other initiatives aimed at supporting the goals of the university; coordinates graduate students’ events; work closely with Faculty development team in the institute to develop professional development workshops and programs; design and facilitate faculty development workshops both on the campus and off campus through contemporary online platforms; conduct quality Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) research to promote evidence-based and innovative pedagogical practices including the use of modern technology to strengthen teaching and learning
Teach graduate level courses using a hybrid of different pedagogical approaches
Supervise graduate students’ theses and projects.
Collaborate with other institute’s staff to design, develop, and facilitate workshops for faculty and graduate students’ professional development.
Serve as an advisor to the graduate students.
Oversee and facilitate graduate program planning and curriculum development, program reviews, assessments and resource allocations.
Coordinate and review graduate students’ admission processes in the institute.
Assist with marketing campaigns of the graduate program in collaboration with the university’s marketing department.
Conduct research in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SoTL) to present at forums, conferences and publish in academic journals.
Collaborate with faculty and other institute’s staff regarding the effective use of instructional technology in the classroom.
Plan and conduct new graduate student orientation sessions.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of online resources to enhance faculty development and student learning experiences.
Other activities and responsibilities as assigned to support the institute and university goals.
