The Department of Communication Sciences and Special Education at the University of Georgia invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor in Special Education with expertise in Autism Spectrum Disorder, Intellectual Disability and Behavior Analysis. This is a tenure-track faculty position to begin in August 2019.

Responsibilities will include all of the following and other duties as assigned:

  • Develop and sustain a line of research that contributes broadly to the scientific advancement of school based intervention and treatment for with intellectual disability (with or without autism)
  • Pursue external funding for research and training
  • Teach undergraduate and graduate courses (face-to-face, online, and/or blended) that focus on evidence-based practices, for university students seeking degrees in special education and behavior analysis
  • Supervise university students seeking board certification in applied behavior analysis
  • Engage in departmental, college, university, and professional service

Required Qualifications for this position include all of the following:

  • An earned doctorate (Ph.D. or equivalent) in special education or a closely related field, or degree to be awarded before the positions start date
  • Board Certification in Applied Behavior Analysis (BCBA)
  • Established record of scholarship focused on individuals with intellectual disability (with or without ASD)
  • Established record or demonstrated potential for securing federal or private research funding
  • Demonstrated commitment to collaborative, professional interactions and service

The appointment will be for the regular 9-month academic year. Additional opportunities for summer employment may be available. Salary will be competitive and commensurate with experience and qualifications.
