The Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Counselor Education (EDSCE) in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a lecturer position, in the lecturer title series, in Interdisciplinary Early Childhood Education. This faculty member will provide expertise in assessment, instruction, and teaming for families and young children receiving early intervention, early childhood special education, early childhood education, and related services. The lecturer will also contribute to the climate of diversity and inclusion within the EDSCE department through their instruction and collegiality.

The appointment is a nine-month appointment, effective August 16, 2023, in a non-tenure track position. The position is for an initial one-year appointment and will be renewable each year thereafter, dependent upon program size and availability of funds, with the possibility of promotion to higher ranks. Salary is competitive and commensurate with education and experience. Responsibilities include the following: Teach three courses each semester (fall and spring); supervise practicum, internship, and student teaching experiences; coordinate field experiences in Lexington and surrounding counties; advise undergraduate students; support state and community early childhood partnerships with agencies in Kentucky and nationwide; provide service to the department, college, university, community, and profession.

Preferred qualifications include an earned doctoral degree in early childhood education, early childhood special education, special education, or a related field prior to start date; experience as an educator serving young children with or at-risk for disabilities; a commitment to teacher preparation; effective collaboration with community partners in education; evidence of or intent to incorporate diversity, equity, justice, and inclusion principles across teaching and supervision.

Preferred experiences include college/university teaching, supervision experiences, commitment to social justice, diversity, equity, inclusion, and belongingness principles, and experience with distance learning technologies.
