Job Description
Old Dominion University’s Department of STEM Education and Professional Studies seeks applications for one full-time tenure track Assistant or Associate Professor (10-month appointment with opportunity for summer employment) in Occupational and Technical Studies in the undergraduate Training Specialist Program and the graduate Human Resources-Training Program beginning August 2023. Candidates with expertise in business and industry training, workforce development, and instructional design are encouraged to apply. The salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Responsibilities include: (1) producing high quality research for publication in peer-reviewed journals, (2) teaching and developing undergraduate and graduate face-to-face and web-based courses, (3) seeking external and internal funding to support scholarship endeavors; (4) advising undergraduate and graduate students and directing doctoral committees, and (5) participating in program growth and improvement. The candidate will be responsible for working on workforce development and articulation agreements among other colleges and universities, leading program initiatives, and participating in program governance and decision-making.

Preferred Qualifications
Candidates who demonstrate the following will be preferred: teaching higher education or training business/industry courses in: organizational and workforce development, organizational performance improvement, instructional design, instructional methods, instructional technology, program evaluation and assessment, project management, consulting, or data mining and learning analytics; delivering face-to-face and web-based courses via synchronous, asynchronous, and blended modalities; advising students; publishing in peer-reviewed journals; delivering presentations; seeking and working on grants; and leading educational or training initiatives.
