Overview
The Center for the Enhancement of Teaching and Learning (CELT) is a University-wide resource to promote teaching excellence among faculty and to collaborate with existing teaching, learning and mentoring initiatives in different schools at the Tufts. The Center reports to the Office of the Provost and offers a variety of programming for faculty and administrators to enhance teaching, works with individual departments in Tufts seven colleges on Educational Initiatives, oversees various grants, co-sponsors the Academic Leadership Development Program and sponsors the Mutual Mentoring initiative, supports the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning and co-sponsors a teaching institute for graduate students.
What You'll Do
Under limited supervision, the Associate Director is responsible for contributing to the advancement of teaching, learning, and educational innovations through consultations with faculty and development and implementation of programming that supports strategic academic initiatives.
Essential Functions:
- Assists director with management and assessment of on-going programming initiatives which may include a variety of programs: Academic Leadership Development, CELT Faculty Fellows, Course Design Institute, Institute for Learning Assessment, Learning Communities, Mid-Term Feedback, Office of Educational Affairs/CELT Teaching scholars.
- Develops new programming that supports Provost strategic initiatives related to inclusion, diversity and
technology. Assesses needs, gathers research, designs program and pursues grant funding.
- Provides oversight of program communications, website, Twitter account and other materials and mechanisms.
- Responsible for generating publications, presentations for dissemination of CELT programming and innovation initiatives. Collaborates with departments and consults with faculty related to faculty development needs. Runs workshops.
- Contributes to Center research on teaching model program effectiveness.
- Serves as representative on university, college and professional development committees and boards.
What We're Looking For
Basic Requirements:
- Knowledge and experience as typically acquired through completion of Ph.D/Ed.D. in Education
- 5 years of university teaching experience
- Strong written and oral communication and presentation skills
- Excellent analytical, research skills with experience developing, implementing and assessing new programs
- Strong interpersonal skills, experienced working collaboratively with faculty and staff
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with STEM disciplines
