The Academic Coordinator provides support for (a) improving disciplinary-specific instruction, with particular attention paid to anti-oppressive history instruction; (b) increasing teacher knowledge of the H-SS Framework and other state-wide requirements and recommendations for history instruction; and (c) planning models that center culturally relevant instruction in history classrooms. The Academic Coordinator reports to the Director of the University of California, Berkeley History-Social Science Project and will have access to shared work space in the UCBHSSP office, located in the Department of History at UC Berkeley. Regular travel to partner organizations and school sites will be required. Access to a car is needed. This position's renewal after the initial year is dependent on available funding.
