The Educational Foundations program in the Department of Educational Foundations and Special Education at East Tennessee State University invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor. This is a 9-month, tenure-track position to begin August 2019. Within the Department of Educational Foundations and Special Education, this individual will serve in the program of Educational Foundations, which provides foundational education courses to licensure and non-licensure education degree programs in Clemmer College (undergraduate and graduate). This person will thus be instrumental in furthering the College’s objectives of providing dynamic instruction to education candidates and retaining and preparing suitable candidates to become capable professionals in Education.

Required qualifications include: (1) a doctoral degree in Education, Educational or School Psychology, or field related to Educational Foundations (will consider ABD to be completed within one calendar year of the start date); (2) experience with quantitative and/or qualitative research; (3) potential for research and scholarly activities related to the fields of Educational Foundations; and (4) experience teaching undergraduate and/or graduate students. Candidates will be preferred who have (1) experience advising undergraduate and/or graduate students, (2) experience teaching or serving in U.S. K-12 classroom settings, (3) demonstrated pursuit and development of higher-education instructional skills, and (4) a demonstrate knowledge of diversity, skills in addressing needs of diverse groups of learners, and an appreciation for multiculturalism.

Position responsibilities include: (1) instruction of introductory-level and graduate-level courses including but not limited to: Introduction to Education, Educational Psychology, Issues in Education, and Research Methods; (2) program/course development; (3) undergraduate advisement, mentoring, and recruiting; (4) research and/or scholarly activity; and (5) service to the department, college, and institution.
