Position Summary
The Graduate School of Education at The University at Buffalo, State University of New York (SUNY) is seeking individuals with experience and knowledge of teaching practices and school communities and the ability to make connections between the university teacher education curriculum and the skills and practice knowledge gained in resident field placements. The incumbent will work collaboratively with the Office of Educator Preparation to ensure quality residency experiences that enable students to meet required competencies and adhere to accreditation standards.
Duties and Responsibilities (Field Educator):
- Provide on & off-site support to UB teacher residents during residency placement year.
- Provide regular feedback to teacher residents student to improve teaching skills & techniques.
- Provide ongoing informal and formal evaluation of resident progress. Submit three formal Student Teacher Assessment Record evaluations of resident performance.
- Actively coordinate and work with school liaisons in providing appropriate learning experiences for the residents.
- Conduct monthly small group class sessions with resident student teachers and provide in-depth support & learning.
Duties and Responsibilities (Field Liaison):
- Make a minimum of one visit per month throughout the academic year (September - May) for each assigned resident. The visits should include a three-way meeting with the resident and mentor.
- Be available to problem-solve issues with the student and/or mentor teacher via phone or through additional field visits as needed; document any significant problems and the recommendations made to address the problem.
- Attend monthly meetings as required by the Office of Educator Preparation.
- Provide program feedback and evaluation as requested by the Office of Educator Preparation.
- Interview incoming candidates to ensure potential for success in a field placement.
This is a 10-month position that runs August - May.

Minimum Qualifications
- Permanent / professional certification in NYS or the equivalent.
- Minimum of 3 years relevant teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of certified, K-12 classroom teaching experience in schools with diverse student populations.
- Urban teaching experience (required for funded programs with BPS).
- Experience providing instructional coaching or mentoring.
- Demonstrated commitment to WNY school districts, families, and communities
