The Department of Curriculum and Instruction in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky invites applications for an Open Rank Position in Secondary English Education. The position is regular title series, tenure-eligible. This is a nine-month appointment, effective August 16, 2024. Responsibilities will be divided between teaching, service, and research, with faculty in this position typically expected to teach a 2-2 course load. The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated ability to integrate their teaching and service with research that aligns with the department’s mission: “The Department of Curriculum & Instruction is committed to advancing social justice through research, teaching, and service alongside the students and communities we serve. We engage in reflective practices to prepare educators, researchers, and professionals to build a more equitable world.”
Responsibilities include the following: teach two courses each semester (fall and spring) such as graduate-level methods and classroom management courses in an embedded secondary school context (e.g., EDC 635, EDU 645, EDC 746, EDC 509, EDC 533); collaborate with school partners; supervise practicum students and student teachers in field experiences; lead the secondary MIC English program faculty; chair the English Education program; and conduct a line of research relevant to the department and University’s mission (e.g., peer reviewed publications, grant proposals, presentations); seek extramural funding; serve on masters and doctoral committees; and provide service to the department, college, university, and profession.
