The Graduate School of Education at the University at Buffalo, SUNY invites applications for two Assistant Professor (tenure-track) positions in Higher Education, in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy. The Department of Educational Leadership and Policy has a long history of research excellence and a strong tradition of teaching and community engagement. UB’s Higher Education program is committed to creating a collegial academic environment that is fundamentally concerned with questions of access, equity, diversity, and inclusion throughout our three degree programs: 1) EdM in Student Affairs Administration; 2) EdM in Higher Education; and 3) a PhD in Higher Education.

Building on departmental expertise in college access, multicultural competence, social justice and inclusion, and gender (in)equity in higher education, we seek candidates whose research directly engages questions of practice that impact the ways in which historically underrepresented groups experience higher education. We are particularly interested in scholars whose research and teaching interests interrogate the following subject areas: 1) How do minoritized students experience college success? What barriers limit success and what affordances make college success more ubiquitous? 2) How has student activism evolved on college campuses particularly among diverse student populations, including racial, ethnic, and gender minority groups? In what ways has student activism among underrepresented groups impacted the culture of college campuses? 3) In what ways can the modern student affairs division respond to contemporary students’ changing needs, including trans* and non-binary students, English language learners, and other marginalized groups?

Responsibilities include:

  • Maintaining an active research agenda commensurate with Research 1 tenure track faculty appointments
  • Seeking external grant funding
  • Teaching two courses per semester at the graduate level in both the Masters and PhD program
  • Teaching and advising EdM and PhD Students
  • Contributing to the intellectual community of the department

University at Buffalo is an affirmative action equal opportunity employer and, in keeping with our commitment, welcomes all to apply including veterans and individuals with disabilities.
