Ngā kōrero mō te tūranga - About the role

This position provides an opportunity to bring your passion and drive to enrich and empower students throughout their academic journey. You will bring your knowledge of the New Zealand Curriculum and the Digital Learning Discipline in a range of educational contexts, including schools and to our teacher education programmes. Whilst your position will have a focus on Digital Learning in Aotearoa New Zealand, opportunities exist for you to contribute to other areas that will benefit from your knowledge and expertise.

To succeed in this position, you will have a record of quality scholarly achievement with the ability to lead research activities and you will be expected to contribute to the graduate and postgraduate programmes including the supervision of Honours, Masters and PhD students.

Ko wai koe? - Who are you?

To be successful in this position you will have a broad and in-depth knowledge of initial teacher education, specifically in the Digital Learning area. It is essential to have current knowledge of the New Zealand curriculum and with the University's commitment to Māori and Pacific learner success, it would be strongly desirable to have an understanding of bicultural approaches and knowledge of Māori and Pasifika perspectives.

Your ability to evaluate and mentor the professional experience of initial teacher education students will contribute to an essential component of the students' journey.

You will have a PhD in a relevant discipline, or be in the final stages of completion if applying at Lecturer level, a teaching qualification and proven successful teaching skills at tertiary level with experience of large and small class sizes. Your established record of research and publishing relevant to the field of Digital Learning will set you up to be able to master existing and new theories, models and approaches including knowledge of policy relating to digital learning.

The Lecturer salary range is NZ$80,837 to $97,051 per year, and the Senior Lecturer range is NZ$99,780 to $130,902 per year. The salary will be commensurate with the level of appointment.
