The Department of Education & Counseling at Villanova University invites applications for a tenure-track position with the rank of Assistant Professor to begin in the Fall of 2019.
The successful candidate will have earned (or be in the final stages of earning) a Ph.D. or Ed.D in Education and be highly qualified in the areas of elementary education; curriculum and instruction; mixed methods research; and diversity and equity. An ideal candidate should have a strong research agenda that focuses on the elementary school context and/or K-6 teacher development using mixed research methods. Experience working with diverse populations is preferred, as is teaching expertise and the potential to make significant scholarly contributions. The search committee is especially interested in candidates who, through their research, teaching, and/or service, will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community. Prior teaching at the elementary level is desirable.

Duties and Responsibilities
The position involves teaching graduate and undergraduate courses, advising students, and conducting research relevant to the candidates area(s) of interest. Courses to be taught include: Educational Research; Psychology of Teaching and Learning; Elementary Teaching Seminar; Methods of Teaching; Child Development, among others.
1) an earned doctorate from an accredited university in elementary education or a related field; 2) successful teaching experience in higher education; 3) a strong background in curriculum and instruction at the elementary level; 4) an original and sustainable research agenda, which employs mixed research methods and considers issues of diversity or equity in education; 5) research, teaching, and/or service experience that will contribute to the diversity and excellence of the academic community; and 6) excellent communication skills.
