Under the direction of the Dean of the School of Education and the Director of Graduate Studies for Education, this position will teach graduate level courses, mentor, and advise future leaders for P-12 schools in leadership/management theory and practical application. The candidate should have expertise and a successful experiential record in educational leadership in creating shared vision and values; ethics and professionalism; equity and cultural responsiveness; curriculum, instruction and assessment; data-driven decision-making; care, safety, and support for students; professional learning and progression of faculty; meaningful engagement with families and community; effective management and operations skills; and leading change, innovation & educational entrepreneurship.
The candidate will follow professional and ethical standards, serve the college and community and produce scholarly work related to educational leadership.
Graduation from an accredited institution with terminal degree appropriate to the discipline. ABD considered (however, degree must be in hand by the start of classes).
Knowledge and skill in current instructional theories, strategies, techniques, and discipline content.
Evidence of potential for scholarly/creative work consistent with a teaching university.
Successful record as a building-level or district-level K-12 leadership for at least two years.
K-12 administrator license.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of and experience in teaching courses in educational leadership and related fields.
Knowledge of current leadership theory, methods, strategies, and techniques.
Knowledge of school management, faculty motivation, and evaluation.
Knowledge of state and national educational leadership standards.
Skill in interpersonal relationships, problem-solving, and decision-making.
Skill in research, quantitative reasoning, writing, which results in scholarly work.
Skill in educational change, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing to a diverse group.
Ability to apply technology in classroom teaching.
Ability to support graduate students in building capacity for the latest Professional Standards for Educational Leaders.
Ability to teach summers.
Ability to teach evening courses.
Ability to adapt to current trends in the field.
Experience with and understanding of state and national standards, including accreditation in educational leadership.
Higher education teaching experience.
Demonstrated experience and commitment to university and public school partnerships.
Commitment to global competency as it relates to educator and leadership preparation.
Requirements associated with teaching are continuous speaking, seeing, and hearing. Extended periods of standing, walking, and sitting are required. Extensive use of fine-hand manipulation associated with the use of a computer keyboard. Work is normally performed in a typical classroom/office work environment. Requires regular sitting and standing. Must have the mental and physical capabilities to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodations. Must be able to communicate effectively. Requires large classroom, small-group and interpersonal interactions with students, faculty, and members of the campus.
