The Counselor Education Program in the Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Counselor Education (EDSCE) in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a clinical assistant professor position in Counselor Education. The appointment is a nine-month appointment, effective January 1, 2022.

The Counselor Education Program is a social justice focused program with specialties in Rehabilitation Counseling (RC) and Clinical Mental Health Counseling for distance learning at the master’s level, Counselor Education and Supervision (CES) at the doctoral level, and Interdisciplinary Disability Studies (IDS) at the undergraduate level. The RC and CES programs are CACREP accredited and the CMHC is under review for accreditation. Faculty provide exceptional education and training to all our students and affirm professional identities.

The individual chosen for this position must meet the following minimum criteria:
* An earned doctoral degree from a CACREP-accredited Counselor Education or Rehabilitation Counseling program by start date.
* Certified rehabilitation counselor (CRC) or demonstrate CRC eligibility prior to start date.
* License eligible (LPC) in Kentucky by start date.
* Have experience in (or show potential for) teaching core CACREP and specialized courses in the RC and CMHC master’s programs and the IDS undergraduate program.
* Show a willingness to teach, supervise, and mentor Counselor Education and Supervision doctoral students.
* Have clinical and/or supervision experience in counseling.
* Experience working with diverse populations.
* Experience in use of instructional technology.

Responsibilities include the following: Teach a three-three course load; conduct clinical supervision; develop a research agenda, and provide service to the Counselor Education program; the Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Counselor Education; the College of Education; and the University of Kentucky. The individual is expected to teach courses and advise students across undergraduate and master’s programs. The individual selected for this position will be expected to serve as co-coordinator of the undergraduate program in Interdisciplinary Disability Studies. Clinical faculty members within the EDSCE are highly valued, significantly contribute to teaching and training within the program, and serve in important leadership roles within the department. Opportunities for promotion without tenure are available for full-time clinical faculty members. Additional responsibilities may include participating in curriculum assessment and development, contributing to program administration, and providing service to community and professional organizations. The Rehabilitation Counseling program is ranked in the top ten programs in the country by U.S. News and World Report.
