Old Dominion University’s Department of Educational Foundations and Leadership in the Darden College of Education & Professional Studies invites applications for full-time, tenure-track (2 Assistant, 1 Associate) positions in PK-12 Educational Leadership. The department is committed to recruiting, supporting, and fostering a diverse community of outstanding faculty, graduate students, and staff. The successful candidate will hold a 10-month, academic year position and will contribute to the advancement of our Master’s, Education Specialist, and Doctoral programs with a commitment to academic excellence in research and teaching.
Responsibilities of the position: The successful candidate will be expected to (1) conduct an active scholarship agenda leading to refereed publications and external grant funding; (2) teach live online and/or hybrid courses; (3) advise students, including chairing and/or serving on dissertation committees; and (4) engage in department, college, university, and professional service.
Required qualifications include: (1) an earned doctorate by time of appointment from a regionally accredited university in educational leadership, administration, or policy, or related field; (2) evidence of scholarly publication record in peer-reviewed educational leadership or policy journals, or evidence of advancement toward a successful publication record; (3) ability to assume graduate-level teaching responsibilities and effectively incorporate technology in face-to-face and synchronous online courses; and (4) ability to supervise graduate students and direct dissertation research.
**Candidates interested in the senior faculty position must have the requisite scholarly record to warrant a tenured appointment in the department
Preferred qualifications include expertise in one or more of the following scholarly areas related to PreK-12 educational administration, leadership, and policy: instructional leadership and supervision, economics of education, organizational theory, school improvement and/or turnaround, and equity and social justice. Candidates with expertise in advanced quantitative or qualitative methods are especially encouraged to apply.
Salary: Competitive and commensurate with experience. Start date: July 25, 2023
