THE ROLE

Student Academic Success (SAS) provides learning support services that promote academic achievement across RMIT Vietnam programs. The Learning Success Coordinator is responsible for the delivery and coordination of academic learning support services to students at the Hanoi campus. The Coordinator will collaborate with Senior SAS staff in Saigon South to implement and oversee delivery of study support services, interventions and resources offered by SAS. These include: individual and small group learning advising sessions, academic and language skills workshops, peer-assisted learning programs (PAL), and systems to support At Risk and developmental students in pathway programs. The Coordinator provides a variety of academic skills development experiences to RMIT students and manages recruitment, daily operations and ongoing development of students in SAS Peer Assisted Learning programs in Hanoi. The position will require well-rounded skills in learning advising, project management, and collaborative learning approaches, as well as proven expertise in academic literacies, learning skills, and English language development.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Facilitate face-to-face advising to support development of academic literacies, English language and academic skills at RMIT Vietnam across programs and Schools. Adapt, contextualizeand deliver the activities based on program and student needs, and report on student feedback and effectiveness of these sessions to key stakeholders.
Work with relevant staff (e.g. lecturers and Student Services) to support "At Risk" students with their academic, literacy, and language skills development.
Facilitate individual study planning sessions with the aim of helping students to identify and plan for achievement of personal learning goals (esp. in the case of At Risk students).
Coordinate with senior SAS staff and academic staff to develop and deliver course-embedded learning support experiences such as digital resources, in-person workshops, or consultations, to target student cohorts.
Provide management, training, and ongoing development opportunities to students participating in Peer Assisted Learning programs at RMIT Hanoi.
Manage systems critical to the ongoing operations, quality and evaluation of SAS services
Actively promote SAS services to the RMIT student body. Contribute fully to ongoing communications efforts in coordination with SAS staff in Saigon campus.
Provide feedback on student learning opportunities and challenges facing SAS and academic teaching teams. Conduct research for recommendation to key stakeholders regarding improvements in assessment design, communication, and student learning outcomes.
Participate in the ongoing monitoring and program evaluation of SAS study support services and initiatives. Accurately and consistently collect and report quantitative and qualitative data using established reporting systems. Contribute to the collation,analysis and delivery of this data, to key stakeholders.
In conjunction with the Student Academic Success Manager and senior team, participate in projects to further develop the resources and services of Student Academic Success.
Actively engage with the teaching and learning community within RMIT Vietnam and beyond.

KEY SELECTION CRITERIA

Bachelor’s Degree with major relevant to supporting RMIT Vietnam students such as Commerce, Management, Professional Communications, Education, TESOL/Applied Linguistics, Communications and so forth.
Minimum five years previous experience providing academic and study skills support in a secondary or tertiary education environment.
An internationally recognised English teaching qualification
Experience in classroom teaching (e.g.: Teaching Academic English to tertiary-level students or experience teaching in undergraduate programs)
High level of awareness of learners needs in alignment with demonstrated knowledge and commitment to continuous improvement principles and a developmental approach to academic skills support in educational settings
Strong interpersonal and cross-cultural communication skills for interacting with diverse learners and colleagues in an international university context
Proven ability to accurately maintain complex operational systems and reporting (high attention to detail).
Ability to work independently on projects with limited oversight while maintaining high standards of accuracy and quality.
Proven ability to lead and coach students involved in campus programs (e.g. student volunteer programs or clubs)
Proven ability to creatively design and engage students with activities that facilitate language and learning skills development in support of learners’ own study goals.
Research experience using qualitative and quantitative methods for evaluation of service delivery.
Demonstrated awareness of constructive alignment in curriculum and assessment design, especially as relates to academic literacies and learning skills development.
Skilled in the use of technology as a teaching and learning tool with experience in use of Learning Management Systems (e.g. Blackboard, Canvas)
Skill in using technology and digital tools to facilitate reporting in visual and numerical formats (esp. Excel, Google Sheets)

ENGLISH PROFICIENCY REQUIREMENTS

If English is not your native language then you will be required to demonstrate a minimum English language proficiency standard at a IELTS 8.0 or equivalent. RMIT Vietnam will require you to complete a BULATS test to assess your level of English before an offer of employment can be made.
