*Bilingual Education *

  • *- to teach undergraduate and graduate Bilingual Education courses focusing on both theory and practice. Additional assignments will include advising undergraduate and graduate students in Bilingual programs; mentoring undergraduate Bilingual majors in the completion of edTPA portfolios for certification; writing annual assessment reports for internal monitoring; developing programs; updating the curriculum; designing program outcomes that include the use of technology to enhance language education; participating in accreditation program reviews; and maintaining a research agenda focusing broadly on Bilingual/Multicultural teaching and learning.

Qualifications: Doctorate degree in Bilingual Education or a related field and a minimum of one year of teaching experience at the post-secondary level is required. Knowledge of and experience with TESOLWIDA, ACTFL and CAEP standards and the accreditation process is desirable. Candidates should have a clear record of teaching Bilingual Education K-12; expertise in Bilingual/Biliteracy related pedagogy and methods; experience instructing graduate students through multiple modalities such as online and hybrid teaching and learning; and the ability to prepare language educators to teach in Bilingual settings at the elementary, middle and high school levels. In addition, candidates should have evidence of public school teaching in Bilingual settings; evidence of successful teaching experience at the college level (e.g. course evaluations, teaching portfolio); a clear research agenda; and experience with program development. 

This is a twelve-month, full-time, tenure-track assignment at the rank of Assistant Professor, effective for the Fall 2021 semester. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Courses may be taught at the Union campus, Kean Ocean, Kean Skylands or other locations.
 
All tenure-track faculty are expected to demonstrate a commitment to teaching excellence and an on-going program of research and publication or creative and performance activity.  Participation in curriculum development, student advisement and service at the departmental/school, college, university and community level is also required.  Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Proficiency in the Learning Management System, Blackboard and Online Learning Pedagogy is required, consistent with University guidelines. Kean may offer free voluntary Blackboard workshops to otherwise qualified applicants.
