A Lecturer is a full-time employee who teaches 39 credits per year and provides student and learning support services over a twelve-month period, extending after graduation and continuing to the beginning of the school year. The Lecturer holds a strong commitment to teaching; maintains office hours; actively participates in the university community; provides Student Academic Support (SAS) including advisement, retention, recruitment and other as needed and directed academic student support activities; and does related work as required. This is a non-tenure track position that may be renewed on an annual basis. Teaching assignments and related responsibilities may include day, evening, weekend and online courses. Interest or experience in using advanced instructional technologies to improve the teaching/learning process is highly desirable. Courses may be taught at the Union campus, Kean Ocean, Kean Skylands or other locations. All Lecturers may be required to teach General Education courses. Positions are effective for the fall 2020 semester.

School of Curriculum and Teaching
K-6/5-8 (Content Area), Bilingual Education, Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL), Teacher of Students with Disabilities (TSD) – the Lecturer will teach and have the ability to prepare undergraduate and graduate students to teach in Bilingual, TESL and TSD settings at the elementary and middle school levels, including skills necessary for acquiring English: reading, writing, speaking and listening. The successful candidate will have a clear record of expertise in a K-6/5-8 Content Area, Teaching English as a Second Language (TESL) and/or Bilingual Education and/or Teaching Students with Disabilities (TSD) and expertise in Bilingual and TESL related methodology, as well as TSD methods. Master’s degree in a related field; New Jersey certification as a K-6/5-8 Content Specialist, TESL or Bilingual Teacher or the equivalent; and a minimum of one year of teaching experience at the post-secondary level is required. Doctorate degree and a TSD endorsement is preferred. Knowledge of and experience with ACEI, CEC, TESL, ACTFL and CAEP is desirable. Candidate should have evidence of public school teaching in Bilingual and/or TESL settings, with experience in TSD settings preferred; evidence of successful teaching experience at the college level (e.g. course evaluations, teaching portfolio); and familiarity with current trends in pedagogy and program development.
