Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University – Worldwide is currently seeking a Faculty Developer to join the Department of Online Education at the Rothwell Center for Teaching and Learning Excellence (CTLE-W). The CTLE-W provides support for approximately 1,500 adjunct and full-time faculty members across all modalities offered at ERAU’s Worldwide Campus (ERAU-W). This role will support all ERAU-W faculty in their teaching from a pedagogical perspective and also serve as a leader on assigned CTLE-W projects and initiatives as well.

The primary function of the Faculty Developer is to design and facilitate faculty development offerings for the ERAU-W faculty. This includes but is not limited to faculty development courses, webinars, CTLE-W Office Hours, virtual faculty learning communities, self-paced workshops, and other specialized offerings as needs arise. The Faculty Developer contributes to the department’s monthly newsletter, communications, and various web presences as well. The Faculty Developer is expected to maintain a high level of competency with tools utilized by faculty at ERAU-W, including the Canvas Learning Management System, the Adobe Connect web conference platform, Campus Solutions, SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and other technologies as needed.

The Faculty Developer also serves as an expert in best practices in pedagogy, instructional technology, and the scholarship of teaching and learning, and as such is expected to actively and continuously engage in his or her own professional development to remain current in these areas. In addition, the Faculty Developer outreaches with new faculty members prior to and during their first term, and frequently provides individual faculty consultations upon request. Therefore, this individual must stay current in teaching and educational technology trends, and stay up-to-date with Embry-Riddle’s curriculum, instructional technology, and policies.

This position also contributes to various ERAU-W and CTLE-W projects and initiatives, including support with CTLE-W research and program evaluation. An administrative function within this role includes, but is not limited to, maintenance and creation of course completion records, tracking of attendance in CTLE-W live sessions, and keeping a log of faculty consultations and outreach as needed. Due to the dynamic nature of CTLE-W and ERAU-W, the Faculty Developer must be flexible and work collaboratively both within the CTLE-W team and with other ERAU departments and colleges as needed to best serve the needs of ERAU-W faculty.


Required Qualifications:
Master’s degree (Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field) (3-5) years of work related experience

Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
Teaching experience required, preferably in the online/technology enhanced classroom
Experience with learning management systems, instructional technologies, and tools (Canvas LMS, Adobe Connect, Camtasia, and Storyline experience preferred)
Training/professional development/instructional design experience highly desired
Excellent organizational and communication skills, both oral and written
Ability to interpret scholarly research for broad audiences
Strong academic writing skills
Awareness of teaching and learning principles and practices
Outstanding interpersonal and customer relationship skills, including the ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of people one-on-one and in a team environment
The ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities
