The Counseling Program at UNT seeks a faculty member with a demonstrated record of strength in research, leadership, and teaching to support the program's scholarly, professional, and academic initiatives. This position will contribute to the program, college, and university's commitment to maintain excellence at the national level. The individual selected will serve a nine-month, tenure-track appointment beginning fall semester 2020. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Part-time summer teaching is contingent on student demand and funding.

In 2016, the UNT Counseling Program ranked 1st in Texas, 3rd in the South, and 4th in the nation by; and it ranked 10th in the nation by The UNT Counseling Program was the first in the nation to receive the Association for Counselor Education and Supervision's Outstanding Program Award and has earned that recognition multiple times. For ten years U.S. News & World Report ranked the UNT Counseling Program among the top 20 programs nationally; for 2019, the program ranked 14th in the nation and 1st in Texas.

A suitable candidate would demonstrate dedication to effective graduate teaching and strengthening the College's commitment to enrolling, retaining, and graduating a diverse student population. In addition, the candidate would contribute to the program's mission to create, apply and disseminate innovative knowledge, especially in the area of counseling for holistic wellness with diverse clients and populations facing risk factors.

The program values diversity in research that advances knowledge in the areas of advocacy and culturally responsive counseling services. Research foci of current faculty members include, in alphabetical order: animal-assisted therapy, career counseling, multicultural counseling, neurofeedback training, play therapy, school counseling, sex offender counseling, and technology use in counseling and counselor education.

Primary responsibilities include, but are not limited to: (1) pursuing a focused line of research leading to publications in refereed journals and to extramural funding; (2) teaching two courses each semester in CACREP core and counseling specialty areas; (3) serving on doctoral committees and advising/mentoring students; (4) providing clinical supervision to master's and doctoral level students; (5) working with faculty members in the Counseling Program and with those centers, institutes, and clinics affiliated with the Program to maintain and enhance the Program's national stature; and (6) participating actively in professional organizations and university committees.

Minimum Qualifications:
The candidate must hold a doctorate in counseling or counselor education by start of employment and must be fully licensed in the state in which they reside. A record of effective research, publication, professional activity, teaching, and clinical supervision is expected.
