Job Description Summary
Clinical Assistant Professor. This twelve-month, non-tenure-track position in the Department of Curriculum & Teaching begins August 2024. The 12-month appointment will include teaching undergraduate and graduate foreign language education courses. The individual will be responsible for expanding the foreign language program. In this role, they will focus on developing and implementing a strategic marketing plan for the foreign language education program and making necessary curriculum revisions that align with current best-practices in foreign language education. A successful candidate will also teach a class in disciplinary literacies each semester for the reading education program. The Department of Curriculum and Teaching is housed in the College of Education. The department offers a range of undergraduate, master’s, specialist, and doctoral degrees in teacher education.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Ø Teach and coordinate undergraduate- and graduate-level courses in support of the foreign language education program.
Ø Advise and mentor graduate students in foreign language education.
Ø Supervise foreign language education student teachers.
Ø Participate in the planning and implementation of curricular changes for the foreign language education program.
Ø Provide institutional service as assigned by the department head and engage in professional service within the discipline.
Ø Participate in professional activities as needed to ensure the well-being of the program, department, and college.

Minimum Qualifications
Ø An earned doctorate (Ed.D. or Ph.D.) in foreign language education or the equivalent from an accredited university at the time of employment.
Ø At least three years of experience teaching foreign language in a K12 setting.
Ø At least 18-hours of graduate credit in foreign language education.
Ø Demonstrated understanding of best practices in foreign language education program development as defined by the American Council for Teachers of Foreign Language (ACTFL).
Ø Demonstrated capacity to teach and advise foreign language education undergraduate and graduate students with a commitment to equity and diversity.
Ø Demonstrated advanced proficiency in at least one foreign language.
Desired Qualifications
Ø Prior foreign language teacher education experience.
Ø Prior experience teaching literacy and/or linguistics in a teacher education program.
Ø Demonstrated expertise using various instructional modalities (including online and hybrid instruction).
Ø Experience in teacher education program development.
Ø Demonstrated advocacy experience for foreign language education.
Ø At least 18-hours of graduate credit in literacy education or equivalent work experience.
