The Department of Early Childhood, Special Education, and Rehabilitation Counseling (EDSRC) in the College of Education at the University of Kentucky invites applications for a non-tenure track clinical assistant or associate professor position in Counselor Education. This clinical title series faculty member will provide expertise in support of field work in the master’s, doctoral, and undergraduate programs; coordination of the undergraduate program; and professional development. The appointment is a nine-month appointment, effective August 16, 2020.
The clinical assistant/associate professor position will have three overarching responsibilities. First, the clinical faculty member will serve as coordinator of field work sites for graduate and undergraduate students, directing students’ educational experiences in clinical settings and working collaboratively with field administrators, developing learning contracts with students, developing memorandum of understandings, and teaching undergraduate and graduate courses. Related responsibilities will include identifying and developing clinical placements, assisting in the training of clinical instructors, providing consultation and mediation as necessary to field instructors and agencies, monitoring and evaluating field placement sites, and evaluating student learning experiences.
A second responsibility will be directing the undergraduate program including recruitment, retention, enrollment, and advising. A third responsibility will be overseeing design of professional development courses for rehabilitation and counselor education professionals.
The person filling the position must have (a) an earned doctorate in Rehabilitation or Mental Health Counselor Education, (b) a record of clinical experience as a rehabilitation or mental health counselor and in working with individuals with disabilities, © a record of effective teaching and supervision of master’s degree students, (d) certification as a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor (CRC) or Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC), (e) knowledge of current and effective techniques for teaching web-based courses.
