The Graduate School of Education at the University at Buffalo (UB), The State University of New York, invites applications for an Assistant Professor (tenure-track)position in Educational, Culture, Policy and Society (ECPS) in the Department of Educational Leadership and Policy (ELP). ECPS has a long and distinguished history of emphasizing research related to the production, reproduction, and/or amelioration of educational, social, and economic inequalities. Building on programmatic expertise, we seek a colleague whose scholarly interests include examining the broader social and institutional forces shaping postsecondary opportunities and outcomes, while identifying those factors that may either serve as barriers to postsecondary opportunities or the policies, practices, and intervention strategies that may serve as catalysts for change. In addition, we are particularly interested in researchers who investigate the role of higher education in social and economic mobility, specifically exploring its intersection with race/ethnicity, nation of origin, social class, gender expression, and related factors. Responsibilities include:
- Conduct exemplary research, commensurate with Research 1 tenure track faculty appointments, leading to the development of innovative ideas and publications in prominent scholarly outlets
- Pursue extramural funding for research initiatives
- Teach two courses per semester at the graduate level
- Advise and mentor graduate students, including chairing and serving on doctoral dissertation committees
- Support efforts to recruit Ed.M. and Ph.D. students
- Fulfill service responsibilities related to program, departmental, and university affiliations
Appointments are for a ten-month academic year beginning in the Fall of 2025.
