Position Status: Administrative Exempt Positions

Basic Function:

Primarily responsible for coordinating the design, development and implementation of online or blended courses and faculty training in current online pedagogical practices.


  • Develop and deliver ongoing faculty development through training and outreach in the use of instructionally-sound online teaching and learning strategies.
  • Collaborate with faculty in the development of new online courses and the adaptation of existing courses for the online or blended environment(s).
  • Mentor faculty in the effective use of the online platform for delivery of online, blended, flipped, or competency-based instruction.
  • Recommend the appropriate tools, media, and teaching strategies to accomplish course goals, objectives, and student learning outcomes.
  • Conduct training on the processes and tasks associated with program design and development to support online teaching and learning.
  • Consult with and assists faculty in the identification, selection, design, development, and deployment of instructional technologies to support online, blended, or competency-based teaching and learning.
  • Ensure adherence to online teaching and learning best practices to meet institutional course quality standards.
  • Stay abreast of emerging trends in the area of online instruction and curriculum design, and when appropriate, make recommendations to the Associate Director.
  • Other duties as assigned.


  • Masters degree in education, instructional design, instructional technology, or related field.
  • Understanding of how instructional design can be applied to pedagogical goals.
  • Two years of course design in a higher education setting, or strong commercial experience designing university-level curriculum or comparable courses.
  • Candidate must be customer service driven; have excellent communication (written and verbal), presentation, and interpersonal skills; have the ability to work independently and as part of a team; must have superior critical thinking, problem-solving, and research skills.
