    Required Qualifications:

    • An earned terminal degree (Ph.D. or Ed.D.) from an accredited institution of higher education in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, Bilingual Education, or a closely related field or a closely related field by September 1, 2023

    • At the Assistant Rank, demonstrate strong potential for excellence in teaching, research, and service

    • At the Associate Rank, demonstrate a record of excellence in teaching, research, and service, as well as a potential to procure external funding to support scholarship

    • Strong, explicit commitment to educational equity and social justice for bi/multilingual students 

    • At least 3 years teaching experience with bilingual/multilingual or emergent bilingual (EB) students in PK12 classrooms in the US, preferably in urban or suburban settings

    • Demonstrated commitment to working in an environment devoted to collaboration, collegiality, professional development, diversity, scholarly inquiry, student learning, civic responsibility, and respect for all people

    • Demonstrated commitment to working with PK12 schools and underrepresented students and families

    • A teaching and learning philosophy consistent with the Rowan University and College of Education missions

    • Membership and participation in appropriate professional organizations

    Preferred Qualifications:

    • Experience with higher education teaching in multiple formats, including online and supervision of teacher candidates

    • Experience with program innovation at the undergraduate or graduate level

    • Proficiency in a language other than English and connections to bilingual communities

    • Research interests in biliteracy, bilingual/education policy, dual language programs, language revitalization, and/or specific language populations applicable to the NJ context (e.g., speakers of Spanish, Portuguese, Gujarati, Hindi, Tagalog, Korean, Arabic, Haitian)

    • At the Assistant Rank: 2-4 years of experience as an assistant professor with a commitment to future leadership roles in the program

    • At the Associate Rank: experience with program coordination or leadership with a willingness to lead at the program level

    • Knowledge of and familiarity with the Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)

    Starting Date: September 1, 2023
