  • Associate Director for Curriculum and Instructional Design

    As part of the Medical Education and Educational Research Institute (MEERI) and reporting to the Director of MEERI, the Associate Director for Curriculum and Instructional Design (CID) will provide appropriate training for faculty in pedagogy, curriculum and instructional design, and related online instructional technologies. Working closely with the Office of Medical Curriculum, the Associate Director, CID will utilize evolving research on effective pedagogy, assessment, and student engagement to assist with the creation of evidence-based and engaging learning activities, course content, and assessments. The Associate Director, CID will work with the Director of MEERI to conduct needs assessments and provide necessary development activities, training and support to faculty and professional staff on the use of effective teaching strategies along with educational technologies.

    The Associate Director, CID will play a key role in the development and implementation of new initiatives and instructional innovations, including the design of a new integrated curriculum, to better prepare graduates for their role in delivering high quality health care. Educators with experience in programmatic assessment as well as instructional modalities that incorporate interactive learning, team-based or case-based learning preferred. Ability to work with clinician educators and educators trained as basic scientists to develop interdisciplinary curriculum content is essential.

    Key Responsibilities


    • Consults and collaborates with faculty on curriculum development, instructional design, and teaching needs as well as selection and development of formative and summative assessments

    • Provides individual and/or group teaching support on a variety of curricular and instructional design, pedagogy topics, and assessment approaches through workshops, webinars, book or journal clubs, or other means

    • Designs and facilitates research-based faculty workshops supporting all teaching modalities

    • Research current trends and evidence-based practices for assessment, instructional design, learning technologies, and faculty development topics

    • Creates processes, tutorials, and documentation to assist faculty in curricular design, delivery, and improvement

    • Collaborates with the Office for Accreditation and Quality Improvement in the design and implementation of processes and tools to gather and utilize assessment and evaluation data

    • Designs and facilitates, in conjunction with MEERI and the Offices of Medical Education team members, signature events throughout the year, such as faculty orientations, medical education conferences, or spotlight events
