    Job Summary


    The incumbent teaches HPER courses, contributing to the optimum achievement of the instructional, research, public service, student recruitment, retention and progression, goals and objectives of the department, division and university.

    Essential Job Functions



    • Conducts a requisite number of classes/teaches assigned subjects

    • Provides guidance and supervision to students

    • Creates and maintains an environment conducive to excellence in teaching, learning, and research

    • Preparation and formulation of curricula focused on his/her subject(s)

    • Participates in departmental meetings and holds scheduled office hours

    • Maintains equipment in the laboratory, makes arrangements for laboratory practical sessions, and provides materials to students

    • Provides academic support to other faculty members

    • Serves on departmental and University committees, as assigned

    • Coordinates (or assists with coordination of) the Sports Management Program

    • Other related duties as assigned by the supervisor
       


    Qualifications



    • Doctorate in Health, Physical Education, Recreation, Sport Management, or related area discipline. Published work is preferred

    • Three (3) years experience in higher education


    Licensing and Certifications


    Mississippi State Department of Education License for Physical Education preferred.
